Kindergarten

2017-2018 School Theme:  A Mighty Fortress is Our God
School Verse: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1

Welcome to kindergarten  Here at St. John's Lutheran School we offer a Christ-centered half day program that fosters the development of the total child. Our well equipped classroom, up to date curriculum, and low student to teacher ratio provides a positive learning environment for our students.

Arrival

Your child should hang their backpack on a hook in the hall. It is very helpful for messages to the teacher to be written in a short note. Arrival each day can be a bit hectic when all of our energetic children run into the room with a story to tell. A short good-bye and quick exit is the best way to help your child adjust to the departure.

End of the Day

Class dismisses at 3:45 each day. It is very important that both teacher and child know where they are going at the end of the day. If your pick up arrangements change, please drop me a note so that I'm informed of where or with who your child is released to. At the end of the day, parents may wait outside the classroom for dismissal. The children will be instructed to get their backpacks and then return to their seats. This routine helps us distribute any information that needs to go home as well as monitor who each child leaves with.  Please help us ensure a safe dismissal by waiting for your child to be excused by the teachers.

About The Teacher:

I am a 1980 graduate from the University of Wisconsin Stout with a degree in early Childhood Education. I furthered my education through Concordia University by graduating in 2013 obtaining a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction.  Colloquy certification was completed through CUEnet and Concordia University Wisconsin. This year marks the beginning of my 28th year in teaching. I have had the wonderful opportunity to serve St. John's Lutheran School and you as parents for what will be my 24th year. I truly enjoy the challenges of teaching kindergarten and look forward to working in partnership with you and your child.

Favorite Bible Verse:  I have had God's help to this very day.  Acts 26:22

Mission Statement:  My mission as an educator is to actively engage my students in Christ centered learning experiences that promote a joy of discovery, love of learning, and the confidence to achieve their fullest potential. I will incorporate a variety of resources and teaching strategies that address the individual needs and learning styles of my students. Throughout our busy week the children will grow spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially.
