Severe Weather
- thunderstorm - a storm with thunder and lightning and usually heavy rain
- lightning - a bright flash of electricity produced by a thunderstorm
- thunder - a loud rumbling or crashing noise heard after a lightning flash
- tornado - a powerful storm with rotating winds that forms over land
- Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF Scale) - a scale that measures the strength of tornadoes
- hurricane - a large ocean storm with strong rotating winds and heavy rain
- storm surge - the rise in seawater level caused by a storm, causing severe flooding
- eye - the center of a hurricane that the winds rotate around
- flood - a rising and overflowing of a body of water especially onto dry land
- flash flood - sudden flooding that happens when water rises rapidly with no warning within several hours of an intense rain
- blizzard - a long-lasting snowstorm with very strong winds and intense snowfall
- whiteout - a weather condition when the ability to see is decreased because of snow
- drought - a long period of time of little or no rain
- famine - a severe shortage of food
