Pre-Kindergarten

2026-2027 Theme

"Rooted in Christ!"

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."

Colossians 2:6-7

Welcome to St. John's Lutheran Pre-Kindergarten!  Our goal is to encourage your child's curiosity, language skills, emotional development, creativity, confidence and critical thinking in a playful environment. Most important is the message that they are a child of God and that their first independent step into learning will occur in a loving Christ-Centered classroom.

Classes are designed for children who are four years old by Sept. 1st. We meet Monday-Friday from 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. (A half day option is also available.) Before and after school extended care is available if needed.

About Our Pre-Kindergarten Program

Much of our formal learning occurs during circle time and when the children are in our play-based learning centers. Circle time is a time for language development, socialization, following directions and story time.

Centers in our classroom provide your child with the opportunity work independently or in small groups at their own pace and ability level. Children this age learn best by doing and through repetition.  The learning centers your child will experience are: Library (Literacy) center, Blocks center, Pretend center, Discovery center, and the Art center. The centers are changed on a regular basis to provide the children with different and new opportunities for investigation and learning.

For our Bible time, we use Concordia Publishing House's curriculum “Enduring Faith”. This curriculum is great in helping children learn about Jesus and grow in their understanding of God's love for them. This curriculum provides a framework for children to explore, express, create, and relate to one another each day. Your child will bring home a Bible story sheet every week so you can see what we are learning and reinforce the lesson at home.
