"Rooted in Christ!"
Welcome to St. John's Lutheran Pre-Kindergarten!
The most important message we can convey is that your child is a child of God! We are here to provide that your child's first independent step into learning is in a loving Christ-centered classroom. Our goal is also to encourage your child's curiosity, language skills, emotional development, creativity, confidence and critical thinking in a playful environment.
Classes are designed for children who are four years old by Sept. 1st. We meet Monday-Friday from 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. (A half day option is also available.) Before and after school extended care is available if needed.
Much of our formal learning occurs during daily Circle Time and when the children are in our play-based learning centers. Circle time is a time for language development, socialization, following directions, math concepts, thematic learning, and story time.
Centers in our classroom provide your child with the opportunity to work independently or in small groups at a pace and ability level that is just right. Children this age learn best by doing and through repetition. The learning centers your child will experience include: Art, Blocks, Dramatic Play, Discovery, Library, (classroom literacy) Math/Manipulatives, Puzzles/Games, and various specialty areas related to classroom learning. The centers are changed on a regular basis to provide your child with different and new opportunities for investigation and learning.
We use Concordia Publishing House's Bible curriculum “Enduring Faith” to learn and study God's Word. This curriculum teaches stories from the Bible that tell about God's people and His plan for our salvation. The children will learn about Jesus and grow in the understanding of God's love for them. This curriculum provides a framework for children to explore, express, create, and relate to one another each day. We get to study, learn, sing, pray, praise, and give thanks to God together! Your child will bring home a Bible story sheet every week so you can see what we are learning and reinforce the lesson at home.
